Photo Walk Description

Note: The Official Worldwide Photo Walk Date is July 24th, 2010

Walk with me and explore the city of Charleston West Virginia.
Dating back to 1794,Charleston is a blend of “old” and “new” architecture and charm found in it’s well known streets we will be seeing during our photowalk, as well as a few lesser known – and interesting/photographic places along the way!
Charleston is easy to walk around, and the people are genuinely nice; in short a perfect place for a photowalk!
So wear comfortable shoes, extra memory cards, and make sure to plan for the weather (typically warm- but pleasent during the morning hours) as we go rain or shine!

A little about me:
I’m a national award winning photographer, speaker and a Certified Photographic Consultant. My images have appeared in outdoor magazines such as Wonderful West Virginia, Paddler, Southern Living, as well as brochures, advertising, and marketing projects nationwide. My work is also is included in the Professional Photographers of America’s traveling loan collection. Various assignments have allowed me to visit and photograph areas from Eastern Canada to the mountains and plains of the Carolinas.
In addition to my journalistic and environmental portraiture, I also shoot fine art, landscapes and nature photography. My work captures the essence of location, mood and feeling in every shot. My work is represented by the Art emporium Gallery in Charleston WV.

My workshop and lecture series focuses on digital workflow solutions, how to see artistically without compromise of vision, the principles of composition, and what roll photographers can play to impact environmental concerns.
My professional affiliations include The Professional Photographers of America, Professional Photographers of West Virginia, The National Association of Photoshop Professionals, North American Nature Photographers Association, Society of Photo Finishing Engineers, and the Luminous Printers Guild.
I’m a member of Fuji film’s Talent Team and have been awarded Two Fujifilm Masterpiece Awards for photographic excellence.
I am also the owner of Photographic Design, a commercial photography business located in Charleston West Virginia.

I would like to attend if possible. I am in Miami Beach at present but will be at my home in Spencer, WV an hour north of Charleston, WV My step son and I have a professional photography business in Miami. I am what I would describe as an advanced amateur having done several photo books with the last one being on Franklin George a well known old time Appalachian Fiddle player. Please send details if there are any more than what is shown. Thanks Larry W. Dent

It’s a win – win ~ as I love photography and love to walk. Downtown Charleston has so many unique buildings. Being on foot to explore the streets and storefronts will be a great opportunity to examine what has changed since my last visit. Capitol Street is a personal favorite of mine. Walking through – if you are not attuned to the surroundings – you will miss many photographic opportunities tucked away or overhead – literally. From statues, people, and businesses, art, floral shops – its sidewalks are wonderful. Looking forward to the event. Thanks

    Clayton,
Consider taking a look at NCJW-WV’s tour books for the past umpteen years.

    Have fun.
