Photo Walk Description

This is my second time leading the worldwide photo walk in Campbell River, and I just can’t wait! We will be meeting at Frank James Park, walking down the sea walk until approximately the big rock then back to meet up at Serious Coffee. If you prefer to do your shots in the more urban part of Willow Point, then you are welcome to check out the areas around and behind both sides of Willow’s Market.

Please ignore what the map says at this point, I’m trying to get it fixed. Starting point is Frank James park, where the driftwood carving contest is held.

  • Walk coming up this Saturday!

The worldwide photo walk is fast approaching! The weather is currently calling for a mix of sun and cloud – no rain. Let’s hope that sticks!

Here are some tips to get ready for the walk…
    - Get your gear ready. Some people have brought tripods in the past, or wanted specific lenses they don’t usually pack. Figure out what you want to bring and how you are going to carry it.
    - Clear your memory card! Whether you format it or just delete your previous photos, make sure you have room on your card for all your photos. You may not be shooting for the entire 2 hours, but do you really want to miss a shot at the end of the evening because you don’t have room?
    - Charge your camera batteries! There’s nothing worse than going on the photo walk and finding out after 5 shots that you are all done for the day.
    - Think of what you would do if it’s a light drizzle or a slight smattering of rain. Come on, this is Campbell River in October. Although it’s calling for sun and cloud, we know rain is always a risk. For some that means bringing out the stormcover, other than means a quick plastic bag over the camera. If there is too much rain, we can either high-tail it to Serious Coffee for cover, or try again the next day. (If you are looking for storm covers for your camera, I know that Photo Tech usually carries some!)

This year the powers that be have said that people can use models, as long as all the photos are taken along the walk route during the walk time. So if you are interested in using models during your walk, make sure to bring them along.

If you have any questions, make sure to leave a comment! I’ll be checking back daily. Looking forward to walking with everyone soon!

This will be fun – even if I have to borrow Linda’s camera.

Sunset is going to be around 7 pm on Saturday. I think a change to 5:30pm-7:30pm would help everyone get the most out of the walk. What do you all think?
