Photo Walk Description

Note: The Official Worldwide Photo Walk Date is July 24th, 2010

The Walk:
The Hespeler walk is going to be going down queen street and along Hespeler Mill Pond. We will be stopping by some older industrial buildings, before making our way up to the Hespeler Library. And finish the walk by going through the older residential area of Hespeler on our way back to Ellacott Lookout.

The Leader:
My name is Scott Toman. I have been a hobbyist photographer for the past 3 year. I have been a participant with the London Photowalk Group for the past couple of years and took part in the WWPW 2009 in Paris, Fr. This will be the first walk that I am leading, but feel that I am ready and able to answer many questions that you may have.

What to Bring:
Bring your camera (any type of camera will do), comfortable walking shoes (walking roughly 3+ km), dress according to the weather, sunscreen if necessary, a tripod is always a great idea but part of this walk will be on a fairly busy and narrow street so use caution, try to bring a water bottle of so sorts

Parking
There are a few spots (10 or so) available right at Ellacott Lookout, but if these spots fill up and they will, there is parking available at a few lots close by (map).

Food Afterwards
I have booked the backroom area of the Duke and Duchess British Pub for us to after the walk. The backroom can sit about 30 people comfortably, the rest are more then welcome to sit on the patio or elsewhere in the restaurant. To get to the Pub, it is a fairly short drive (5 mins). The Pub is located on the corner on Townline Rd. and Jaimison Parkway, near the 401. If you are in need of a ride to the pub afterwards let me know, and I am sure I will be able to help you out.

Flickr
I have setup a flickr group for us to post our pictures on. You can join the group here.

  • Rain Date

The weather report for Saturday’s scheduled walk is not looking to good at this point. With that in mind if Saturday is rained out I will re-schedule the walk for the same time on Sunday. I know that this may be a problem for some people, but unfortunately at this time I cannot control the weather (working on getting that special ability though). For the time being, I will keep everything a go for Saturday. I will be sending out an email very early Saturday morning (I work nights so I can’t get it out earlier) if we need to move the date to Sunday. I will also hang out at the meeting spot Saturday for a little while to inform people that don’t manage to get the message in time.

If you have any questions/concerns or other possible suggestions please feel free to contact me.
    Thanks,
    Scott

I will be joining the walk on Saturday if the weather is suitable, but Sunday is not an option for me. Looking forward to seeing a city that I haven’t been in for many years.

I checked the Ontario Weather page last night and it said no rain till the afternoon. But we all know how trustworthy a meteorologist is.

Thanks for organizing, Scott. Whomever it was that was looking for the guy with the last name “Elgie”, drop me an email through Scott. I’m sorry, I had to leave the walk early to attend an afternoon wedding.
