Photo Walk Description

Who am I? – I’m Katrina. I’m really excited (and a wee bit nervous) to lead a Photo Walk this year. I adore photography, and am fortunate enough to do a little portrait work and commercial work in my ‘free’ time. To some photogs, I’m just a Mom-with-a-camera. I’m okay with that, too.

Who are you? – This part is important. YOU are anyone with a camera. Point & shoot, DSLR, iphone…I don’t care what kind. I hope that we have pros, freelancers, hobbyists, and other moms-with-cameras on our walk. There won’t be any ‘my lens is bigger than yours’ competition on this walk – just good times, some laughs, and some great shots.

Where are we walking? – We’ll start in front of Echo, spend some time at the waterfront…then make our way up to Church Street…meander a bit through downtown, and end up at Maglianero (47 Maple Street). Rather than setting a strict route, I’d like us to just wander a bit (not all who wander are lost…right?).

Why should you sign up? – Reason #1 – b/c it will be FUN! Reason #2 – b/c I don’t want to walk alone.

What if it rains? – Or snows (ugh). Raindate will be Sunday, Oct 2 – same time, same place.

  • Photo Submission Deadline!

Hi all- don’t forget to upload your best photo from Saturday by 10/7/2011 (12pm EST).

  • THANK YOU!!

Huge thanks for braving the rain & cold today!! I’ve set up a Flickr group for us to share photos on – but also be sure to upload your favorite to the main walk page for the contest! Flickr group info – http://www.flickr.com/groups/btvphotowalk2011/

  • IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE!

Chance of rain during walk time on Saturday is 40% – I will be at Echo at 8:30am. If it’s pouring? We cancel. If it’s not – we walk! Also opening up a 2nd walk for Sunday, Oct 2nd. Moving this one to later in the day for variety (and hopefully to lessen the chance of rain) – 4:30 to 6:30 (sunset is at 632). Meet in front of Echo again. Hope to see you at either (or both!) walks!!

I would love to join your walk. – Paul

  2. Hm, seems my first comment didn’t go through.
I’m glad somebody’s leading the walk this year, I almost thought there wouldn’t be one!
I admittedly haven’t done much with photography for months, but I’d definitely love to join the walk and maybe start getting back into it!

I had also made a Facebook event page a few months ago, to generate interest in the walk, here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=252650131431316

  3. KMWatson says:

Great idea! too bad there’s no room for film photographers like me. I dont shoot digital. oh well. I’ll be sending good weather wishes your way.

  4. Bill Kneen says:

I’ll be there. Thanks for taking this on.

  5. Tom Zenaty says:

My understanding is that film shooting is perfectly acceptable…check with the organizer.

  6. Sarah Brooks says:

Looking forward to it. I did the Montpelier walk the last two years. This year though I’m a mom-with-a-camera. My baby will be tagging along this year!

  7. Gary Haley says:

Glad to find a walk in this area, I’ll be there. I have been trying to find a local photography group to join.

  8. Paul Anderson says:

Watching the weather forecast it looks like it might be very cloudy and the rain to be off and on with more rain in the afternoon. I’m driving 1.5 hours to get to the Echo so rain or shine I’ll be there.
