Photo Walk Description

We will be starting the walk at the Bondi Markets where we can have a browse through the market while taking an opportunity to practice some street photography. We can then have a walk along the beach towards the beach to the skate park on the northern end of the beach to take photographs of the skaters and possibly practice balancing natural light with flash. Then if there is still time we can have a walk up towards Icebergs and the Bondi to Bronte walk to take advantage of the Golden Hour. If you have off camera flashes I suggest bringing them along with a mix of lenses.

    Hi everyone,

Thank you all for coming out despite the rough conditions. I think there were some good shots out there today, but you had to get creative. I have set up a Flickr group for the photowalk located here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1754558@N24/
Post your photographs there and feel free to comment and discuss what worked and what didn’t work.
Also here is a link to the official international photowalk Flickr group set up by Scott Kelby: http://www.flickr.com/groups/wwpw4

From what I gather the photos for the contest should sign into this photowalk page and then submit your photographs. I think you should get an email regarding this shortly. If not let me know.

I think we all deserved a good beverage at the end of the day today!

    Thanks,
    Thomas

  • One more sleep before the walk

    Hi everyone,

So tomorrow is the walk, and hopefully the weather will be good. If you get there late or need to contact me for some reason my mobile number is 0420 863 103.

    See you tomorrow!

    Thomas

  • Contingency Plan

So the weather looks a bit iffy, so I am working on a contingency plan. At the moment the walk is still a go and if it’s only raining lightly I think we can still proceed. If it’s really poor weather we can go to the pub and try to wait it out while shooting people walking by outside through the windows, or doing some macro photography. Also possible alternate locations may be Bondi Junction or University of New South Wales which both have shelter.

  • End of walk venue

    Hi everyone,

I had a walk through Bondi this past Sunday to plan the walk a little bit and to check out the Ravesi’s Hotel. The hotel was very crowded and did not take bookings. So we can try to get in after the walk or alternately got to the Hotel Bondi.

Other things to note, at least part of the markets will be in the shade so bring some fast lenses. Also don’t forget that daylight savings will begin on the day of the walk (2 October).

    See you all there.

  3. Shahriar Moudud says:

Would we need to bring tripods ?

    • Thomas Vaclavek says:

There should be adequate light not to need one. Having said that, I will bring one in case I feel like doing a pano of the beach, or some long exposure shots that show motion.

  4. David French says:

Sounds Great be there myself, I will bring a monopod helps stead the hand with the longer lenses.

  5. Alastair Moore says:

It looks pretty miserable at the moment but according to the weather radar it should pass and the afternoon should be ok. Fingers crossed.

      Thanks Keith,
It seemed that the sun came out and you had a good opportunity to take some well lit photographs. I had a look at your website, I really liked your photograph of Emu Plains Station. I have seen that photograph somewhere before and I really liked it, not your typical RailCorp quick shot. Well done.
