Photo Walk Description

Boise Downtown Night Photo Walk

This is not your everyday Photo Walk; this is a Night Photo Walk through downtown Boise. I am excited for another opportunity to lead people on what I personally consider one of the most interesting local group shoots that you can do, a night shoot in the downtown environment. This is the Fourth Annual Scott Kelby Photo Walk. I participated the first year and started leading them the second year. This is my third Night Photo Walk as a Leader and my original Night Walk was the very first Night Walk in the World as part of Scott Kelby’s Photo Walk.

We will meet at 6:30pm at the Brick Oven Bistro, 801 Main Street in Boise. This will allow us to have a dinner and chat a bit with our current photographer friends and meet our new photographer friends. At 8:00PM, we will start out, with a little time for twilight photos, before it gets dark. I love night photography and do it often, but if this is your first time, there are just things to consider. While you don’t have to have special equipment, I would suggest that you have a tripod and a cable release for your camera. The tripod will help you to do the longer exposures required in low-light without image blur. A cable release is suggested, but you could also use the camera self timer to trip the shutter. Some of our photographers may choose to use flash, but for more exciting images at night, I use a tripod and the lights of the city.

Point & Shoot or DSLR (or film) we don’t care. The goal is to meet new friends, have a fun photo shoot, capture some images we love, and to overall have a great time doing what we love, photography. I plan to focus on HDR photography. I and some of the other experienced low-light photographers will be happy to help first time night shooters to get started. If you have questions ahead or the Photo Walk, please contact me via email.

Dress for the weather, it should be cool and hopefully dry. You might want to carry some extra water and there will be a few places open that you purchase drinks as we walk.

The Photo Walk will officially run from 8:00pm to 10:00pm. We will end up at (to be determined), so you can have a bite of food or a drink, while we chimp images or discuss how much our feet hurt.

I am also leading a daylight Photo Walk in downtown Boise, so if you want to do two Walk’s or the night one just doesn’t work for you, there is another opportunity. Email me if you need details. Also, if you plan to attend both the day and the night Photo Walks, you will need to use two separate email addresses to sign up. You can sign up for a free Google GMail email account, if you need an additional email address. See you on the Walk.

Watch this page for any changes to the start and end location, as I might shift to a different restaurants.
