Photo Walk Description
The Barbados Photographic Society (BPS) is pleased to participate in Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk 2011 in Barbados
The BPS is a non-profit group that fosters the development of its members by providing opportunities to hone their skills through education, field trips and exhibitions. The society was founded 9 years ago and is open to anyone with an interest in photography.
CONSET BAY is a sheltered bay on the eastern coast of the island. Our walk will start at the Fish Market where local fishermen sell their daily catch. Before we leave the area, be sure to capture the colourful local fishing boats bobbing up and down on the rolling waves. Our journey will take us along the former train line which connected the east coast to Bridgetown between 1882 and 1934; we will be able to see the remnants of the old rail system. The area was also used for the mining of Manjak, a mineral used for making paints and also served as fuel for the trains. Our trek will lead us pass several little bays and finishes at a large waterspout, called the Puff. Walkers will be able to enjoy the breath-taking landscapes and lush vegetation along the way.
To ensure that everyone is able to get to the walk location, we will meet at the entrance to Codrington College at 5:15am and leave for Conset Bay at 5:30am to catch the sunrise at 5:47am. Anyone who may be unsure of where to find Codrington College may contact the Walk Leader via this forum and make the necessary arrangements.
Ansley has been leading nature and photo walks around Barbados for the past twenty-one years. Over that time he has met many wonderful persons and was able to explore and enjoy the history, geography and culture of the island. An avid photographer and past president of the BPS he has collected several images of items of historical interest (folklore utensils, architecture, etc).
One final tip, walkers should wear comfortable but sturdy walking shoes and travel with drinking water.
Above all have fun, enjoy the shoot and camaraderie

Have ‘joined this walk’ but won’t know until that morning, whether I can make it. Hope that is alright.
If we have less that 50 persons registering; no problem. But consider if another person would like to attend and registration is full.
As a result of a browser glitch, I have been registered twice for the walk.
No problem, I have removed the first one
Think I may have been registered twice also. Got two confirmation emails.
Thanks Kirk…only seeing one registration for you

You’re good to go!
I just logged onto this page this morning and am getting a message stating that the Walker Upload Deadline has passed. I thought we had until the 7th Oct at midday to submit photos.
I just uploaded a photo. The only problem that I had was when I tried to get on the page it could not be found. I finally got it on the third try.
