Photo Walk Description
About the Walk
First, please ignore the Google map provided above. It keeps wanting to place the completion of our walk in New Mexico! Our Blacksburg walk will be on Sunday, Oct. 2. We will meet at 3:00pm in front of Squires Student Center on College Ave./Otey St. on Virginia Tech’s campus. I’ll be waiting for you by the steps leading up to the building. After the walk, we will go to Moe’s to eat, share photos, and get to know one another.
In preparation for the walk, I suggest you bring the following:
*A camera! – Of course! I would advise against bringing too many extra lenses if you use a DSLR, unless you want to make us all have lens envy and your back can take the extra weight.
*Comfortable shoes – As the name suggests, we’ll be walking. Our route is about a mile long.
*Something to drink – Water is a good choice. Stay away from the adult beverages please.
*Sunblock and/or a hat – It’s the smart thing to do, so protect your noggin and your epidermis, brainiacs!
*A snack – You don’t have to share but we don’t want you to feel hungry… or cranky.
*A positive attitude – I like to be around fun, happy people. Will you be fun and happy? I hope so.
About your walk leader
I’m a communication instructor at Virginia Tech teaching courses in visual media, including videography and photojournalism. Don’t worry. I won’t be grading you but I’ll be glad to teach you some tips about photography if you ask. This is my second year leading a walk in Blacksburg.

I went to this last year yet in Wilmington NC was awesome we had 50 walkers around downtown photos of the old buildings, etc it was nice. Cannot wait for this year.
Wilmington is a beautiful city. I’m hoping Blacksburg will offer some nice fall colors for our walk.
