Photo Walk Description

This will be a wonderful journey into a little known urban park set just above the famous Claremont Hotel. The walk will take us through lush fern carpeted forest floors, grand oaks and a little known stand of bigleaf maple that may be turning orange and red. The park has a few historic structures (fireplace), well groomed trails and lots of accessible nature.
I am a professional photographer as well as a restoration ecologist who works at this site and has come to love it for so many reasons. I think you’ll enjoy the many different vegetation stands and the unique sense of place. It is truly wild and only feet from the very-civilized Claremont Hotel. We will retreat there afterwards (via the Evergreen trail, from above) to the slightly spendy Paragon Lounge which has some amazing views of the City and Bay Bridge. Beers are $6 and burgers are $13, so it’s not totally unreasonable – and any amount you resist should be overcome by the fact that there will be listening to live Jazz in one of California’s most famous hotels.
