Photo Walk Description

Sunny or cloudy (but not if it rains), our annual Hyannis Main Street & Harbor PhotoWalk begins at the JFK Museum on Main Street and meanders past picturesque storefronts, sidewalk cafes and parks to Hyannis Harbor and its ferries, fishing boats and pleasure boats. Bring extra memory cards and spare batteries because you’ll be busy shooting! Along the way, award-winning Cape Cod Art Association juried fine art photographer and photography instructor Bob Singer will point out photo opps and offer tips for better pictures. Please gather at 8:45am; we start our stroll promptly at 9:00am. (Be sure to check back for periodic updates, especially as the date grows near.)

  • Some excellent work from our walkers!

Thanks for your submissions! There are some really excellent photographic works this year and it really has me looking forward to future walks with you! Remember, if you’re in the area, stop by the CCAA Camera Club which meets at Cape Abilities on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month (except key holidays that fall on Thursdays like Thanksgiving and, occasionally Christmas.) For more info on the club, visit www.CapeCodArtAssoc.org and click the camera club link. Hope to see you there!

  • Thanks for coming! Don't forget to enter your picture!

The weather was beautiful — sunny blue skies with puffies — for those hardy souls that showed up. Actually, only registrant “copped out” but we’ll forgive him this time because it was raining where he lives. Thanks for coming and participating! From all of your comments, sounds like everyone had a really good time and enjoyed meeting fellow Cape Cod photographers. Only one thing left to do now: pick your favorite picture from today’s walk and post it on our Photo Walk page to enter the Photo Walk contest. You only have until 12:00 noon EDT on October 7th to enter, so don’t delay.

  • We're "full steam ahead" for Sunday morning!

In spite of today’s (Saturday’s rain), Sunday morning is expected to be dry. There’s a 20% chance of showers, but those familiar with the Cape know there’s almost always a chance of showers. If you’re concerned, bring a poncho and a plastic baggie (makes a great camera raincoat). I’m not planning to use either, but they’ll be in my pocket. They ALWAYS are. See you between 8:45 and 8:55AM Sunday. :-)

  1. Karen McDevitt says:

I will be there to participate. I entered and participated during another walk. It was great fun and a challenge. I will look forward to the www in Hyannis in a different season.

  2. Bob Singer says:

Weather’s looking great! See you Sunday morning in front of the Kennedy Museum.
Reminder: the town’s free public parking lot is practically right next door!

  3. Bob Singer says:

To clear up any confusion, please remember that there are three different Barnstables on Cape Cod (a county, a town and a village). The Walk on Sunday morning is in Barnstable Township’s village of Hyannis, not in the village of Barnstable. That’s why we’re meeting in front of the Kennedy Museum on Hyannis’ Main Street. See you there! Please try to arrive between 8:45-8:55AM. We’ll start walking and shooting promptly at 9:00AM.

  4. Scott Story says:

Was there plans to grab lunch some where after? The BBC or Embargos maybe?

  5. Bob Singer says:

Afraid not, Scott. It’s a morning walk. Too many have to get back for afternoon plans.

  6. Bob Singer says:

But there should be time to grab a cup of coffee.

  7. Bob Singer says:

For those who missed the update, it should be dry Sunday morning (only a 20% chance of showers so they’re not likely). For safety’s sake, I’d stick a disposable poncho in and a plastic baggie for your camera’s raincoat in your pocket just in case of a stray, discontent passing cloud.

  8. Bob Singer says:

For those not within spitting distance of Hyannis, the sun’s out here. :-)

If it’s pouring when you get up Sunday morning, the walk will be postponed. Be sure to check back and check your e-mail which will be sent via the website to those who registered.

  9. Bob Singer says:

Good morning. The sky is currently dry in Hyannis and I am planning to be there…with a slicker, though, just in case.

  10. Bob Singer says:

It was tough to pick a winner. All were good!
