Photo Walk Description

Note: The Official Worldwide Photo Walk Date is July 24th, 2010

Our walking tour of the Fairlie-Poplar historic district of Atlanta starts at 9:00am and ends at approximately 11:30am. We’ll be meeting in the amphitheater just inside the park, across from CNN. After the walk, you are welcome to join us all for lunch at the Taco Mac on the “back side” of the CNN Center, facing International St.

This is my third year leading the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk here in Atlanta and each time we tour this great part of downtown we find exciting new images, meet new friends, and generally just have a great time getting out and shooting with a bunch of fellow photography enthusiasts.

As with years past, I would recommend you don’t overburden yourself with gear that you then worry about keeping track of; one or two lenses will give you a lot of creative options (I once did the whole walk with nothing but a Lens Baby!). Also, please don’t bring your tripod; we’ll be mostly shooting from sidewalks and a forest of tripod legs could create a hazard for passersby [and each other]. Monopods are fine though.

This Walk is sponsored in part by The South Eastern Photographic Society (www.spsatlanta.org) – one of Atlanta’s oldest photography enthusiasts club. Anyone with an interest in photography, at any skill level, is welcome to attend our “first Friday” club meetings and members enjoy the benefits of frequent workshops and monthly competitions critiques. Please stop by our club website for details.

If you are already signed up for our walk but can’t attend, please click on the “Leave This Walk” button just above the map on this page:

      Hi Ray,

It would be great to have you on the walk – just sign up here on the site. I can’t add people to the list, they need to do it themselves.

      Ken

Ken – We would love to participate in an Atlanta walk, but they fill up so fast! Can you find some photog friends who will lead other walks? I participated in Athens last year, but we would love to try somewhere different. Thanks!

  12. Marcella James says:

    Greetings Ken!

I am giving up my spot for the Atlanta walk and joining the Charleston, SC walk. I thought I would make it back on time but I was just informed otherwise. I will be with you guys in spirit as I walk in Charleston. Have fun!!

    • Ken Ross says:

      Hi Marcella,

Sorry you can’t make it; could you please click on the “Leave This Walk” button next to the map to remove yourself from the list – unfortunately I don’t have the ability to do that.

  13. Linda Baron says:

    Hi…

Unfortunately, due to an injury, I won’t be able to attend on Saturday.

    Have a great time!

    • Ken Ross says:

      Hi Linda,

Sorry to hear about your injury – keep an eye on our SPS Meetup group (www.spsatlanta.org) for a “redo” of the walk sometime next month. It’s not associately with Scott Kelby (so no cool prices) but you’d get the change to walk the area with a bunch of other photogs and get some great shots.

In the mean time, could you please click on the “Leave This Walk” button next to the map to remove yourself from the list – unfortunately I don’t have the ability to do that.

  14. Richard Dawson says:

Sorry I won’t be able to walk with you folks. On the bright side that opens a slot for someone else.

    Have a great day.
    Richard

  15. Scott Jackson says:

Hi I signed up for the Roswell walk this year before the ATL-Fairlie-Poplar walk was posted. Now that both are full… I was wondering if anyone would like to SWAP PLACES? You can have my Roswell slot and I would take the downtown slot if possible? Thanks. Scott

  16. Steve Lyons says:

    Ken,

Thanks for leading the walk. It was a lot of fun discovering some new things.
