Photo Walk Description
We’ll meet in front of the Varsity at 9:00 am. There are several parking options in the area and a very large parking lot right behind the Varsity itself. That parking lot’s rate is $4.00 for the entire day and it has a machine that accepts debit and credit cards. Also, if you would prefer not to drive into town, the Marta’s North Avenue rail station is only a couple of blocks away.
After a brief talk about the photowalk and safety, we’ll start walking towards the Fox Theatre and go by several of the interesting buildings in town including the ATT Midtown Center, the One Georgia Center and the Bank of America Tower. After we reach the Fox, we’ll head towards the historic Biltmore House and the Georgia Tech Square. We’ll then head back towards the Varsity and go past the midtown Olympic Games Memorial Tower and finally on the North Ave. Bridge which has a nice angle of the downtown buildings. After the walk, we’ll all meet up at the Varsity for lunch and talk about our photos. The planned route isn’t showing correctly on the site. You can view a better version of the route including elevation data on Walkjogrun.net – http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=F3D01FE1-CAFE-65CF-705EE2B315A11DB8
So a little bit about myself. I’m a street photographer and enjoy shooting abstracts and people. You can find me on 500px (http://500px.com/mason) or Google+ (https://plus.google.com/109328612626879131592). I usually walk alone during my shooting, so I’m really looking forward to having a group with me during this walk.
Tripods and monopods will be fine. Naturally, we’ll need to share the time and space on some spots during the walk like on the North Ave. Bridge. and to also avoid any “tripod forests”.
Weather is always unpredictable. If we do get rained out, I will contact you about re-scheduling the walk for either later in the day or Sunday.
