Photo Walk Description
Little Five Points is a district of Atlanta well known for its quirkiness and rich flavor. It’s a goldmine for photography. We will meet in the Junkman’s Daughter’s parking lot and fan out over the area for two hours. At the end of the Walk, we can gather at the Front Page News Restaurant, a short walking distance from the start, eat, and share with each other the sites that we photographed.
The time of the walk was chosen so that both daylight and nighttime photos may be taken. L5P is well lit but be sure to bring a flash to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the fading light. Due to area congestion and the number of photographers in the group, please leave your tripods at home. Mono-pods may be used for stability concerns.
About me: I have been playing with photography for over 30 years and very seriously for the last seven years. I turned professional in 2009. Street photography is my passion.

My husband and I would love to join your Photo Walk. Does he need to sign up separately or is this ok for the both of us?
Ignore my previous note. We were finally able to get us both registered. For some reason I was having trouble with my password and user name from last year’s walk but finally got it reset.
I have no idea what my user name or password are. When I enter my email address to be given that information I get an error message that the site will accept my address.
Help!
I’m not sure that I understand exactly your problem. Unfortunately, I have no control over the site controls. I would recommend using a new email address and signing up. Sorry not to be of more help.
Look forward to meeting you in person Gary.
You too, Hoke. We have been crossing trails too often not to know each other.
Sorry Gary, I will have to try to get on one for the 2nd. The North Georgia Shootout is the 1st and I had already committed to that one. Please give my reservation to someone else. thanks
tom
Thanks for letting me know, Tom. Enjoy the Photowalk.
Gary, do you have any parking suggestions?
I am coming down from around Marietta. Does anyone want to carpool with me?
Shawn
I suggest taking MARTA. Parking options will be limited because it’s Saturday evening and a lot of people will be there.
There is parking behind The Junkman’s Daughter for $5 and also around Front Page News. Parking can be tight. If MARTA had a nearby subway station I would happily take it. However, such is not the case. You will need to transit via the MARTA bus if you don’t wish to attempt parking there.
This could prove to be an interesting walk. It may be the last time you will be able to photograph L5P’s iconic Criminal Records while it is still open for business. http://clatl.com/cribnotes/archives/2011/09/06/the-end-is-nigh-for-criminal-records
Just wanted to make a note for those who can’t make this particular walk since it’s full. My Atlanta midtown walk still has 36 slots open. http://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/atlanta-ga-united-states/
3 more days and counting
See ya’ll on Saturday!
After talking to a couple of photographers, I have decided to rescind the “no tripod” rule. After all, there will be some night photography. I just ask that you be sensible; Do your best to not block pedestrian traffic with your tripod.
Thanks to all the photographers that showed up for the Photowalk. You made it a great event. I look forward to seeing everyone’s photos. Just a few reminders:
1. You may show any and all of your photos at our group’s Flickr! site http://www.flickr.com/groups/1740346@N25/
2. Up to five shots a day may be uploaded to the Worldwide Photowalk’s Flickr! site at http://www.flickr.com/groups/wwpw4/
3. Make sure that you upload your best image at http://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/atlanta-ga-united-states-little-five-points/ for judging starting at 9am EDT, 10/03. The judged best image will receive Scott Kelby’s new book Light It. Shoot It. Retouch It. You will also be eligible for more prizes as your image will be judged with the best of other photowalk picks. Your image must be uploaded by 12 pm EDT, 10/07. So don’t delay.
It was great sharing with everyone and I hope to see you out shooting again. For anyone that would like to stay in touch, please feel free to friend me at https://www.facebook.com/garyhowie or at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wander-This-World-Photography/119869668061360
