Photo Walk Description
Whether you’re a local or a visitor to Invermere, join us for a leisurely stroll around town, down to the lake, up to a viewpoint overlooking the whole valley, and share the camaraderie of up to 50 photographers!
Children are welcome, as long as they’re photographers and pre-registered. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a photographer parent/guardian.
For safety’s sake, please don’t bring pets, or anyone who’s not a photographer and/or not pre-registered for the walk.
We’ll be stopping at The Bistro in downtown Invermere after the walk, to enjoy a beverage and snack, and do a little “chimping” at each other’s lcd’s!
(Drinks and snacks for your own account).
I’ll let you know more details as they become available!
Any questions or concerns, or suggestions about route selection, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
Looking forward to meeting you!
Cheers!
Tanya

Hi Tanya! Will you be allowing kids to register for your Photowalk? I was thinking of leading a walk here myself, now that you are that’s great but I’ll have my kids with me and they would love to do this too. Thanks!
Sorry, I need to pull my question, I can’t do this walk on Sunday as I have to drive back to Alberta that afternoon. Should have looked at the date first, darn and I was excited there was a walk right where I wanted to be
Sorry you can’t make it, Shannon! Yes, children are welcome, as long as they’re all photographers and are pre-registered.
PS: Children are welcome. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Thanks!
Can’t figure out how to join this walk. After signing up, and filling out all the fields in the form, I tried some seven or eight times to duplicate the capshaw, and the form turned me down every time, then kicked me out. So I don’t even know if I’m signed up or not…
Not impressed by the survey questions either – note that the number of options for image editing software is extremely restricted (no shareware, freeware, or Linux programs), and that the two camera categories – “point and shoot” and DSLR – scarcely encompass the current range of digital camera options. For instance, I wouldn’t call a megazoom digicam that has RAW format and manual focus and zoom any more a “point and shoot” than the majority of current digital SLRs.
As I’m reading it today, on Oct 6, the site says “4 days left to upload photos” in one place, “12 pm EDT Oct. 7th” in another….
Caught me a bit on the wrong foot. I’ve been trying without success to figure out how to save my edited RAW files in GIMP. Now I’m stuck trying to figure out how to meet the maximum size limits of the site with one of my jpeg files. I’m not too confident of success. Maybe there will be some help in the FAQ….
Uploaded an unedited jpeg with a file size of 1002KB. No idea what the dpi is, nor whether it exceeds 1000 pixels on any side. No indication from the site whether the upload was accepted or not.
Will reduced the size by one more point on the jpeg scale, upload it and call it a night…
Well, I guess the second try met the criteria. Unfortunately, since it was only the companion jpeg (lesser quality jpeg) to the RAW image I couldn’t convert, it’s been compressed twice – to 79% the second time. Don’t know if the EXIF data made it through, so I’ll add that it was taken with a Lumix FZ30 at 1/320s F5.6 38mm ISO80 with a Trek-tech tripod using a remote shutter control.
Looks a lot nicer in the RAW image tweaked in RAWSTUDIO, or even in the UFRAW plug in for GIMP. But even if I’d been able to figure out how to save it to a standard file format, I’d probably be up all night trying to find out how to reduce the resulting file from 16MB to 1MB.
Congratulations Marilyn, Judy and Marlene. Great shots.
I hope to give you more competition next year, when I have my new 16 (or 36 – depending on which rumour is correct) Megapixel Nikon D800 ;].
Achim
Hi everyone,
Do any of you use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3? They have a special on now for the Photowalk people and you save $200 off Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 and pay only $99*.
Achim, I use a free shareware program called IrfanView 4.30 and under the tab Image I just select the option Resize/Resample and there I can change the size without distorting the image and change the dpi. Of course I had to ask a computer friend but at least I didn’t spend too much time. Hope this helps….Judy
