Photo Walk Description

We have architecture, graffiti, warehouses, trains, and the river; and that is only on the outside. The River Arts District Artists and Galleries are putting on the Ritz. Can you shoot glass blowing without blowing out the shot? What can you do with Jonas’ paint throwing? Or was that pot throwing? Can you handle moving water, agile dogs, mountain energy, recycled art? Clingmans and The Junction give opening for food shots and unique interiors. Besides you never know what you find around the next corner in an old warehouse. Scott is giving prizes and we are talking with the district about a show later in October.

  • River Arts District Meeting

I just got back from meeting with the artists in RAD. They are excited about taking a photographer to see their gallery. I also got a card and interest in setting up the exhibit. I am always energized after the pre-walk walk. All the final publicity is going out now.

  1. Leigh Lewis says:

Hi Wallace! I’m putting this on my calendar, see you soon!

  2. Shirley Walsh says:

Glad to get connected with you again this year. I didn’t get any notification last year, probably because my server changed. I look forward to the excitement created by the other photographers and the unsurpassable location of Asheville.

  3. Alisshia Staton says:

I’m looking forward to a great day in Asheville.

  4. Kim Maxwell says:

I plan on going to this one then the one in Hendersonville the next day if going to both is okay but I’d like to see the Aville architecture. Wonder why it’s mid day in the harsh light?

  5. Karen Carnahan says:

My husband and I would love to go. We’d be coming from South Carolina and spending the weekend there. Thanks.

  6. Eric Henderson says:

Can someone suggest a “budget-friendly” hotel in the area for those of us coming in from out of town?

  7. Joe Longobardi says:

Got the email–let me know if I’m registered.

  8. Kim Maxwell says:

(08:45am – 11:30am) the plan art district lunch

    • It is supposed to say AM. The walk actually starts at 9am with registration starting at 8:45am. We wanted to make sure we had that morning light. Several folks are planning to do downtown in the evening.

  9. missy corrales says:

Kim I thought the same thing. Esp since i am not a morning person. lol
Wallace thanks for putting this all together again.
Looking forward to seeing all the regs.

    • You know want that perfect morning light reflecting over the graffiti on that falling down warehouse that is going to win you fame and fortune. Or maybe a book. Just send out good Karma to the photo club.

  10. David Simchock says:

Hi everyone. I am excited to be part of this event! I recently moved to Asheville from New Jersey, and have settled into a studio in the River Arts District (www.DavidSimchock.com / http://www.VagabondVistas.com). You are all welcome to stop by after the walk and hang out. I’m in Suite 101 at 375 Depot Street (directly across from the Magnetic Field Restaurant). My (comfy) studio: http://bit.ly/oFbJFx

In case any of you are interested, I am hosting a Gallery Talk / Studio Warming party this evening (Thursday, Sept. 22) starting at 7:00PM (talk at 8:00PM). You are welcome to come by! It should be an enjoyable event!

    Detials & RSVP here: http://conta.cc/oBZV2B

Maybe see you later, if not, then on October 1st.

  11. Jimmy Hughey says:

Chris Hughey. Please let me know if I’m registered.

  12. Jessica Eik says:

Looking forward to doing this again this year! Great location, should be interesting and fun. Pray for fog! lol

  13. Rich Carpenter says:

I signed up, but I’m not sure if my name is on the list. Let me know if it isn’t, so I can try to sign up again.

    Rich Carpenter

  14. Nancy McCullough says:

    Hi,
I signed up for the walk through Flickr. I am not certain if I am on the list, but I am excited to be a part of this great event!
    Cheers,
    Nancy McCullough

  15. Kim Maxwell says:

I added my name to the attendee list just so it takes less time in the morning, but since I’m doing the H’ville walk on Sunday feel free to move me to the waiting list if it fills up. I plan to walk w. the group because I want to see the area and don’t want to walk it alone, but won’t knock someone else out of participating in the WWPW. If it gets full I’ll be happy just to walk w. the group but not submit pics to the Aville walk.

  16. Joe Longobardi says:

As is the trend, there is a Saturday gathering of solidarity at Pack in support of the Wall Street protests in NY. I’m adding that to my own personal roster of things to shoot.

  17. Jeffrey DeCristofaro says:

Hey, I know how and where to enter the photos on Flickr, but where here do you submit them?

  18. Kim Maxwell says:

Same questions as Jeffrey. I know where to upload to flickr but I thought the only one was supposed to be submitted to the WWPW?

Also if any of you are interested there is a WNC photographer’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/WNCPhotographers

  19. M. Michael Hyatt says:

I just logged on to upload my picture and got the message that walker upload deadline has passed. Any suggestions?

  20. missy corrales says:

Just wanted to say Thank You to Wallace for putting this together for us again this year!
I really had a great time.
And for those interested in a copy of the group shot I took, just message me on flickr
and let me know, I can email a larger photo to you if you want one.

    Good Luck to everyone!!!

  21. Patsy Hendix says:

I still cannot find where I am to post my single shot for judging by the Scott Kelby team.

  22. Joe Longobardi says:

Apparently, the upload option does not exist.
