A loose agenda will be provided, but most of the Photo Walk will be ‘on the fly’ as there is much to see and shoot. Instructors will be on hand to assist with any questions too. • Hello Anacortes Photo Walkers

First, I’d like to Thank all of you that have signed up for the Anacortes World Wide Photo Walk! We’re going to have a great time.

I’ve had a couple problems trying to update this web-site. Some areas won’t allow me to make changes. I may try to send this update as an email to all of you too, in case you don’t see it here.

For other news, photography updates and just fun stuff, go to my Facebook.com/tony locke photography page. Click that Like button to keep up with everything else I’m doing thru-out the year.

We are meeting at Johnny Picasso’s, a great coffee/espresso shop (and ceramics painting store) on the corner of 5th & Commercial. You’ll be able to get your caffeine fix there before we start. We’ll meet at the end of the photo-walk, at El Jinete’s Mexican, right next door to Johnny’s. Great Mexican food and great margaritas.

I did a walk-thru of the route today, and found even more things for you to photograph. The route is all flat, easy to walk, within a 9 block area of Old Town Anacortes. But be fore-warned, there is a little bit of walking to do while your photographing this unique little town. Don’t worry, you don’t have to do the whole route, as there are plenty of things to see and shoot along the way.

The weather, as you all know, living here in the Pacific NW, can throw anything at us, so be prepared. Last Saturday was perfect, this Saturday looks iffy, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed.

I’ve started a Flickr Group for you to submit your photos to, there will be a photo contest of all images submitted, with the winning image submitted to Scott Kelby’s World Wide site for entry into their contest, with great prizes.

I’ll have maps and descriptions of the walk to hand out on Saturday.

Thanks again for signing up, tell your friends too.

  • Photo Walk Update

    Hello,
First, I’d like to thank all of you that have signed up so far. We’re going to have a great time!

Just wanted to pass on that there may be some Photo Walk route changes. I made some changes to the times and route locations, trying to coincide with the local Farmers Market, but the page is not allowing me to upload them. Something’s stuck, but I’m working on it.

But, knowing how thing scan continual change, we may go back to the original 3:30 time listed after all, so that we can capture the sunset at around 5:15pm. Thoughts? Questions?

Right now the route will still be roughly as described, though those updates haven’t appeared either. Anacortes has numerous buildings over 100 years old, over 120 great hand-painted murals around town, a nice marina with public access to the boats, a fishing fleet & working boat yard, and, for those that like to shot the uniqueness of alley’s, you’ll find those too.

So, looking forward to it, keep checking in for updates as I post them here, while I try to figure out why I can’t make changes or add my photo to the page yet. Don’t forget to pass on the word, invite all your friends. This is an All Levels/Any Kind of Camera way to spend a Saturday having fun exploring Anacortes, WA!

Thanks again, Tony D. Locke, MM (still reigning, Master of Madness)
