Photo Walk Description

Hello All!
My name is Deej Gausling and I will be your leader this year for our walk through Historic (and sometimes HAUNTED) Alton, Illinois as part of the 2011 Worldwide PhotoWalk!! A quick note about me… I have been a camera bug all my life. I graduated from Lewis and Clark Community College with a degree in Graphic Design specializing in Photography. Recently I turned my hobby into a career by opening my own studio in Bethalto, Illinois as well as going back to Lewis and Clark, this time to teach digital photography.

The walk we have planned will be a circle around downtown Alton. We will meet up at the Civil War Prison site on William Street right off of Broadway (which will provide PLENTY of parking!) We have chosen this particular route because it features tons of historical sites, beautiful examples of a variety of architectual styles, and just plan interesting things to see! We will provide all walkers with a map of our route as well as some literature pointing out spots of interest. The Alton Visitor’s Center has voiced a GREAT interest in possibly using photos taken on our walk for their brochures, giving full credit to the photographers!

We have chosen to meet for our after walk dinner at Chez Marilyn on West 3rd Street, about a block from the Civil War site. We will have dinner, discuss the walk and have a chance to compare all of our photos!

WARNING: We have tried to make the walk as simple as possible while still providing many interesting photography opportunities. Our route *DOES* include one fairly steep hill, so please keep that in mind. Please wear COMFORTABLE SHOES and pack a BOTTLE OF WATER OR TWO! Dress appropriately for the weather! Remember, even if it is slightly cool our, walking for two hours can tend to warm you up!!
