Hey guys, Adelle here, a Filipina photography enthusiast based here in Abu Dhabi. Welcome to Scott Kelby’s Worlwide Photowalk Abu Dhabi Edition. I am humbly leading this walk because im a sucker for social events and i thoroughly enjoyed last years which was led by the wonderful Ms. Kholloud Al Muraikhi. I thought the Heritage Village will be an interesting place to walk around, i’m sure we can get wonderful photos at this place and at the same time we can show the world a piece of Abu Dhabi heritage. Walkers, i would like to clarify, we will meet at that spot where the flagpole is. Dont be confused by that hard-headed red pin, i tried to drag it to the exact point but for some reason it wouldnt follow me.

Hi Aries, unfortunately not you have to buy it directly from CafePress. They do deliver quite quickly here in Abu Dhabi.
I bought my shirt from them last year, albeit late,i only learned about the shirt until after the walk, but i bought it anyway.

I was included in the list earlier after my registration and there are still 4 slots remaining.. but unfortunately, when I check my email this afternoon I was informed that the list is already full and I have to register again for the waiting list. I thought it was a first come first serve basis??? Just wondering?…

The waiting list represents the priority in which attendees will be added to the main walker roster if/when space is available. If you were added to this location’s waiting list you will receive an email upon making the registered walker roster. If you’d prefer not to wait, you’re welcome to sign up for a different location.
can the guys who are in the waiting list or not even registered, join the walk ?
from my experience before, we still allowed them to join, however, they are not eligible to join the competition.

here’s some FAQs you might have yourselves and their corresponding answers from Scott himself
Q. What are the rules for pictures I can submit to the contest?
A. We’ve had a ton of questions each year about this. Most recently, we’ve had lots of questions about model shoots during the walk. Here’s how we feel about it: you can shoot models as long as it happens on the walk route, during the official 2-hour (approx.) walk time chosen by your walk leader. Also, you can use Adobe Photoshop to your hearts content, as long as everything in your photo was taken during the official walk hours along on the walk route. You can’t go back at sunset and shoot it in better light, and so on. Also, you can’t add a better sky that you shot in that same location on some other day. Basically, whatever you submit, it has to be taken during the official walk you participated in. You can shoot panos, HDR, B&Ws, you can create collages, you can process them with Instagram on your iPhone—I don’t care—it just has to be all shot during your 2-hour walk. If you don’t agree with the rules, no sweat whatsoever—just don’t enter the competition portion of the walk.
Q. Is there a Grand Prize?
A. You betcha!! Details of the prize packages can be found in our Prizes page (Top prize is awarded by Scott to the single best overall photo taken that day, from all the Photo Walk locations around the world).
Q. Are there other prizes?
A. Scott will also pick photos for 10 Finalist prizes, and there will be one People’s Choice award that will be voted on by you! Whatever photo you all vote as your favorite will get a great prize!
Q. Do I have to enter the prize competition?
A. Absolutely not. This is a totally separate part of the experience, and if you don’t want to enter your images, you absolutely don’t have to (it’s just to make the experience more fun). Some people freaked out last year thinking they were required to enter, but just know—you absolutely don’t have to enter your image—you can go and shoot for the day, and never let anyone see your photos. Ever. They can be your private “secret” photos.
Now with regards to submission for competition, i think e-mailing it to me wont work. my guess is you can submit it thru this page, i do not know because i have a different page as a leader however, if somebody have figured that out please let everyone know.
After the Photo Walk
Once your walk is over, walkers will be able to log on to the Worldwide Photo Walk website, go to your walk page, and submit their best photo from the event to the contest. While submitting a photo to the contest is not required, there are lots of great prizes available to the winners!
Walkers (and leaders) can also share photos from their Photo Walk on the Official Worldwide Photo Walk Flickr Group. Photos from events all around the world will be shared here so the entire community can see the global event they were part of. These photos are not part of the competition, but a great way for everyone to share their experience with the rest of the world.
Walkers will have until 12:00 noon EDT October 7th to submit their best photo to the contest. After that, leaders will have until 12:00 noon EDT October 10th to choose the winning photo from your walk. To choose the winning photo, just log in on the Worldwide Photo Walk website, go to your walk page, and scroll down till you see all of the submitted photos. Click the button underneath the photo you’d like to choose as the winner, then confirm on the window that comes up. And that’s it!
Leaders are also welcome to set up their own Flickr group just for their local walk if you would like to. This way your walkers can easily share their favorite photos from your walk with one another without sorting through thousands of other images.
