Photo Walk Description
This walk has something for everyone!
Starting at the Collingwood Children’s farm, we’ll have the opportunity to capture some great photos at both the Farm itself (situated along the Yarra) and also at the Farmers Market (same grounds) which coincides with our date (http://www.farm.org.au/FarmersMarket.html). Food, people, animals – there will be plenty of photo ops! Just remember to bring along your $2 Market admission fee (which included Children’s farm entry) and spending money if you think the Farmer’s market stalls might be enticing.
After some time here, we’ll wander next door to the Abbottsford Convent where some stunning historical architecture is within easy reach. There are artist galleries and ample spaces to explore – both outdoors and indoors (in case it’s a bit Melbourne Spring-like weather-wise) – http://www.abbotsfordconvent.com.au/visitor-information.
By noon, we’ll head West for a few hundred meters, completing our walk at the historic Retreat Hotel (http://www.theretreathotel.com) for a drink or two, a bite to eat (if you didn’t get your fill at the Market stalls!) and the sharing of stories.
Not a long walk, distance-wise, but you’ll struggle not to find something to get your photography juices flowing!
nb whilst there is carparking for the market available ($1), this is usually quite busy unless you get there early. Watch out for permit and time limits on side streets. The Retreat is only 600m from Victoria Park train station, and is half way between the station and the Childrens Farm.
