A Message From The Walk Leader
The City of Terrell, Texas is located in Kaufman County, 25 miles east of downtown Dallas on Interstate Highway 20 and US Highway 80. The City’s motto is, “the City of tomorrow with the charm of yesterday.” The City exudes the small town atmosphere of an East Texas community with “mom & pop” retailers, well preserved historic homes, and a historic downtown main street.
Terrell was originally incorporated in 1875 and developed around the rail road, as did many early Texas cities.
While the metroplex’s growth explosion has touched Terrell in a major way, the citizens of the community are proud of the number of homes and buildings within the City that have historical and architectural interest. These buildings, many with historical markers, help preserve the small town charm residents enjoy.
