A Message From The Walk Leader

Hey Northern New Jersey area photo-enthusiasts!!  How would you like a chance to walk through beautiful woods and capture images of wildlife like turkeys with their young, many species of perching birds, great blue heron, woodchucks, and deer, just to name a few?  And you can do it right here in New Jersey!!

My name is Bob Redding and I’ll be leading the photowalk at the Tenafly Nature Center in Tenafly, NJ.  You can read about the Nature Center at:

I am working with the Center to make it a great walk.  The basics for the walk are listed on this page but I’m still working on additional details so check back here for more info.  But in the mean time SIGN UP for the walk!  Because of the location and need to keep the group small you should reserve your spot ASAP.  (Even though the standard limit for the walks is 50 people we will probably limit this one to 30 because we don’t want to scare the wildlife away).

Who should come?  Anyone with a camera and an interest in wildlife, nature, or landscape photography.  Pros, hobbyists, and novices are all welcome!  Come and learn and improve your photography, have some fun, and meet some like-minded people.

An Important Note: The Nature Center is free for individuals but they request a nominal $2 donation from all members of groups that come to the facility.  This goes toward their great educational programs that benefit hundreds of school programs in the area.  Please plan to bring this nominal (or larger) donation when you come to the walk.  If anyone has a real hardship with this cost please let me know and I’ll figure out a way to cover it.  Please don’t let this keep you from participating.

What should you bring?

-  You, including your creative side;
-  Willingness to learn something new and/or share your knowledge and    experiences with others.
-  A working camera of any make, model, size, format, and age;
-  Comfortable clothes and shoes;
-  A bottle of cold water.

The walking portion of the day will begin and end at the Nature Center parking lot.  After the walk we’ll plan to drive a short distance to some place where we can get something to drink (and eat if desired), talk about the walk, and share photos with each other.  I’m still working on this part so stay tuned.
