A Message From The Walk Leader

July 18th is probably going to be hot,very hot. So I thought it would be nice to make this an evening photowalk, try to capture some good light with the sun coming down. We’ll be using the beautiful skyline of Tel-Aviv as background for our shots, catch a peek at a beach or two and pass by some historical buildings.

We’ll meet at the Etzel Museum in Charles Klor park near the southern edge of Tel-Aviv (at the edge of Jaffa). I want to start the walk at 4:30 PM so please try to be there a little earlier. Our walk will take us through a few interesting neighborhoods, starting from Neve Tzedek, Levinski, Alenbi and Rotschild, Kerem Ha-Teimanim and eventually back to Charles Klor park to take photos of the sunset (around 7:30 PM).

Here you can find a rough map of the walk, nothing is set in stone but this more or less our planned route.

How to get to the starting point and where to park?

If you drive on the Tayelet south then right after the Dolfinarium you’ll see a parking lot called the ‘Etzel’ parking lot. It costs money but not too much. A cheaper (free) option is about 50 meters after that an unpaved parking lot which is a bit packed on Saturdays (but maybe…). The Etzel Museum itself is an impressive glass and stone building, very hard to miss. We’ll meet at its southern side.

What should I bring?

Here’s a nice gear guide prepared by the organizers of this event. I recommend bringing a camera (!) and lots of water (its going to be hot), also a hat, sunscreen lotion, comfortable shoes, you know, the usual…

I don’t want it to end!!

Charles Klor park is really nice, so if you guys want to hang around after the walk ends it can be great. We can show each other our photos, watch the sunset, eat some ice cream etc. So feel free to bring a blanket in the trunk of your car, some change for the gazlanim

שובר את השיניים לכתוב את כל זה באנגלית, אבל ניסיתי להיות קוסמופוליטני. הטיול צילום שלנו יתקיים כאמור ביום שבת השמונה-עשרה ביולי. נתחיל את הטיול בארבע וחצי אחר הצהריים ממוזיאון האצ”ל שבגן צ’ארלס קלור בגבול תל אביב-יפו. ניתן לחנות בחניון האצ”ל שצמוד למוזיאון (ועולה כסף) או בחנייה לא סלולה כ50 מטר בהמשך הדרך שבדרך כלל מפוצצת בשבתות אבל אפשר לנסות. אנא השתדלו להגיע רבע שעה קודם כדי שנוכל להתארגן ולצאת בזמן.

המסלול שלנו (ראו מפה חובבנית שיצרתי בעצמי) ייקח אותנו דרך כמה אזורים מאוד מעניינים ואורבניים. נעבור בשולי נווה צדק, מתחת למגדל הענק שבנו להם מעל השכונה, נטייל ברח’ אילת והרצל השוממים קמעה בשבתות, ונחתוך דרך אלנבי לשדרות רוטשילד. כאן נראה כמה מבנים מאוד מרשימים ונחתוך דרך הרחובות הקטנים לכיוון רחוב מונטיפיורי, והמדרחוב של נחלת בנימין. נחצה את שוק הכרמל ואת כרם התימנים ונסיים איפה שהתחלנו על חוף הים. אנחנו מאוד רוצים להגיע לשם עם מספיק זמן להתארגן ולצלם את השקיעה המרהיבה מעל אלפי האנשים החצי ערומים שישחו בים.

אם תרצו אחרי הטיול להשאר קצת, לפטפט, לאכול גלידה, להסתכל על תמונות אני מאוד אשמח. הגן עצמו מאוד חביב, אפשר להביא שמיכות לשבת עליהן, לקנות ארטיק מהגזלנים וכו’

אז נתראה בשמונה עשרה לחודש, אל תשכחו להביא מצלמה, כובע, הרבה מים ונעליים נוחות
