A Message From The Walk Leader

Congratulations to Mary Whyte; Colin Beard selected Mary’s image `Beach Rocks’ as the winner from our walk group, so I’ve uploaded it to the main site and it’s in the running for prizes in the global competition.
Good Luck Mary, we’ve got our fingers crossed for you.

Well, that was it - over and gone in a flash - a bit like Christmas in some ways.
If you joined us on Saturday, I hope you enjoyed the morning and you got what you wanted from it.
Don’t forget to upload TWO images of your choice using the new links on this page, so that you’re in the running.
I look forward to doing this again sometime. Keep in touch and stay safe!

Hi folks
Just to confirm that it is all systems go for Saturday morning, except that after walking the route yesterday, I have moved the meet location to the car park at the junction of Cotton Tree Parade and Alexandra Parade, outside the Main Entrance to the Caravan Park.
This should make it much easier to park, and for those of you who have registered but don’t know me on-sight, much easier to find me. You will have received an e-mail to help you in this regard.
So it’s all set for Saturday; I look forward to seeing you then.

I walked the route this morning, started at 10am and got to Alex Surf Club at 10.40am, returned at 11.00am and reached the origin at just past 11.45am. I walked at about half my normal speed, and stopped few times to admire the view, so I reckon the timing and distance is OK.
Just for the hell of it, I went past the Alex S/C to the lookout and sat there for 20 mins. then a bit further to some steps that lead down to the rocks. There’s a really nice stretch there that you would miss if you didn’t know it was there, and the view down from the top of the steps would make a brilliant shot.
It was a beautiful day, there were hardly any waves, just a good swell to give the surfies something to slide down.
I might go again tomorrow or Friday, see how time allows.
Keep and eye here for updates - hope to see you on Saturday.

Well, Bastille Day today, and there’s less than a week to go; we’ve reached the dizzy number of 15 of us doing the walk so far.
If you’re from the area, you might have started thinking about what shots you might like to take, or what gear to bring. The best advice I have been given so far is to travel light, so perhaps one camera and a zoom is preferable to lugging every piece of gear in the cupboard along just in case you need it.
I would just like to pass on something I heard on ABC Coast FM last week, about sun-screen. Although it is winter, the sun is almost as strong in the UV department as in summer, so sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are recomended, along with water if you need it.
We will be walking the route described below, but if you can’t make the start at 10am or have to leave before 12 noon, it’s fine. As long as you have registered, you will be able to upload your shots if you wish to do so.
The weather is great so far this week, and I for one hope it stays like this; it can belt down once we’re all back in our cars and on the way home, but as long as we have a nice stroll in the sun with our cameras, I’ll be delighted.
See you on Saturday.

Hi folks and thanks for your interest in a Sunshine Coast contribution to the Second Annual Worldwide Photo Walk.
The walk will be an easy stroll along Cotton Tree Parade and Alexandra Parade from Cotton Tree to Alex Surf Club and back either retracing our steps or maybe via another route if you prefer.
I am pleased to announce that Master Photographer Colin Beard from The Sunshine Coast School of Photography has kindly agreed to join us; Colin will be on hand to provide useful tips along the way.
Please see the map below and feel free to ask any questions you have via the contact page.
The plan is to have a fun outing, a chance to get out and about taking photos and meeting others who share your passion.
So please take a moment to register your interest; I look forward to meeting you on July 18th.
