A Message From The Walk Leader

Welcome to the official page for the Springfield, Missouri location of the Worldwide Photo Walk taking place on Saturday July 18, 2009!  We are planning a full morning of activities and photo shooting.  We are tentatively scheduled to walk from 9 am to noon allowing for plenty of time to compose, talk and learn new things from one another.  At noon we will gather at one of our local eating establishments to compare stories and screenshots and generally get to know one another.

The walk is limited to the first 50 individuals who sign up.  You can be an amateur or professional or anywhere in between.  We hope to see beginners with point and shoots to professionals with Dslr’s.  We all learn from one another and grow from seeing each others works and points of view on similar subjects. 

We will begin our walk at the Creamery Arts Center, touring Jordan Valley Park and then wander south along Sherman and John Q Hammons Parkway enjoying and capturing images of Springfield’s newest architecture at the ballpark and Hammons Tower before moving on to historic Walnut Street where we will capture images on subjects that date back to the 1880’s.  From there we will turn west toward Park Central Square and capture images of a re-emerging downtown district and the waking of the city after a long Friday night.  If time permits we will move to Founder’s Park and do some portrait work before proceeding to our lunch destination.

What does it cost you?  Absolutely nothing, this project is strictly for fun and learning.  What do you have to do?  Take pictures and then hopefully you will share your favorite five pictures from the day with us.  From those we will pick one picture to share with the Worldwide group.  

We hope to display some of our best shots somewhere in Springfield after the walk, perhaps even as part of the First Friday Art Walk in August or September.

What do you have to lose?  Nothing at all, if you are interested in photography sign up.  Remember we are limited to the first 50 individuals.

Your hosts for the Springfield Photo Walk 2009 are Mike and Teresa Young, members of the Southwest Missouri Camera Club and currently the club’s Scavenger Hunt Chairpersons.  Mike is also the creator of the Ozark Photos, voted Springfield’s favorite photo blog for the last two years by other local bloggers.
