A Message From The Walk Leader

I spend lots of time at Liberty Station, and at first glance you may not think much of it in terms of photography, but its chock full of surprises.

A brief history of Liberty Station-Naval Training Center

San Diego Naval Training Center is an area that holds a special place in the hearts of not just the hundreds of thousands of sailors who called it home, but of the entire community that watched it grow up.  One of only four historic districts in the City of San Diego to be listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, the NTC Historic District will forever be a place that turned boys into men, launched war heroes into battle and made San Diego the great Navy town of the 20th Century.

You can learn more about Liberty Station HERE.

Come join us and take pictures, meet some new friends who enjoy photography and like to have fun.  Liberty Station is a unique location with lots of options to for some fun pictures…nowhere else in San Diego will you find a golf course (Sail Ho) with a great view of downtown San Diego, beautiful rose gardens, and a Navy battleship (USS Recruit) all in walking distance of each other.

We will start and finish at the NTC Command Center.  Out of respect for those who want to shoot and have fun with us without breaking the bank, we will gather for a nice picnic in front of the Command Center.  So bring your own food, and we will enjoy the beautiful San Diego evening, getting to know each other better and sharing the pictures we all took.

We’re working on some surprises and prizes just for our walk…so stay tuned for more info.

This was my first photo walk and I enjoyed it very much. I got a chance to meet some of my fellow photographers-new and seasoned-who shared their reasons for joining the walk and to develop a sense of community. Our format was simply and each had unfethered access to areas that were not off-limit. The late evening provided warm tones and we got a chance to see wedding photographers practice their craft. I look forward to participating in more photo walks as time permit and they become available.

I really enjoyed the walk it was sad moment 20 minutes in I realize there wasn’t a cf card in the camera. I thank my friend steve for the use of his camera for the day mine is still in the shop.
The only question I have now what is the max pictures to a file.
