A Message From The Walk Leader
Ocean Beach, California.
One of the great little communities in San Diego and full of unique photo opportunities. We have a skateboard park, dog beach, surfing, beach volley ball and one of the longest piers in the country. The pier is 1,971 feet long and is supposed to be the longest concrete pier in the world. It also has a T-shape at the end extending 360 feet to the south end and 193 feet to the north end. There are great photo opportunities shooting from the pier or from the beach with the pier as an element in your images.
Ocean Beach is also well known for the diverse characters that live here. So for those looking for some interesting people photography, this is a great place to shoot.
I am still working out the route we will take and will post that soon.
For those that don’t know me, My name is Alan Hess and I will be the leader of this walk. I mainly photograph concerts, and have been a guest blogger on Scott Kelbys Blog. I will also be teaching a pre-conference workshop at this years Photoshop World in Las Vegas. I have written two books on Sony DSLRs and am working on a third book right now. I have lived here in Ocean Beach for many years and it is one of my favorite places to shoot.
I hope that you join me here

How do we find out who the OB winner was that was submitted to Scott and the others? Last year the information was emailed to us and I’m just not sure if that is the correct protocol.
Though the walk crippled me for nearly two weeks, I sure got a lot out of the afternoon and dinner afterwards was fun too. Hope to see some familiar faces next year. Thank you Alan
Oh my gosh. Had a great time. Met Gary, a fellow photo walker, in Starbucks before the walk. We had a good conversation for two strangers.
Four or five people asked for their photograph to be taken. Still owe them all pictures via email. Glad I bought along a note pad.
Looking forward to next year’s walk and you can bet I will practice my photo walking between now and then.
Thanks Alan and Thanks Scott Kelby.
God bless,
-jack
