A Message From The Walk Leader
Get ready to walk along one of of the Southwest’s most re-vamped downtown’s! Notice, “walk” not “run” as we explore the effects of light on the architecture and street scenes of the downtown Phoenix, installment of the WORLD WIDE PHOTOWALK, is a FREE self-paced guided photo walk which will allow photo enthusiasts to ask questions, snap photos, and to get out and explore the city core! We will loop around downtown shooting all kinds of fascinating scenery including a wide variety of buildings, museums, shops, a major league ball park, art/cultural centers and, of course, street photography.
We will start and finish at the Arizona Center downtown at 5:00 pm when the light begins to soften. and conclude at one of the many bar and grills at the Arizona Center to view each other’s images and share in the art of photography after sunset around 7:15pm. Join photographers Aaron Latham, David Sanders and Ian Wingfield to capture the ”golden or magic hour” of life in downtown Phoenix as the sun sets. This is a special time when the light cast long shadows, presents a golden glow, and ultimately makes for gorgeous images. As we journey along downtown, please be sure to bring any gear you may have (whether it be point-and-shoot cameras, professional SLR’s, compact and light tripods, different types of lenses etc.) and lots of questions! All ranges of experience or lack of experience are encouraged to attend, heck, shoot with your cell phone camera for all we care. The idea is to have fun while learning something new in the art of photography.
NOTE ADDED July 16, 2009:
Hey all,
My name is Aaron Latham and I’ll be one of the three leaders for this Saturday’s World Wide Photo Walk in downtown Phoenix.
Just as a reminder, we’ll be meeting at the Arizona Center at 400 E. Van Buren. Now, the light should be nice after 5 p.m. but it will still be very hot so you must bring sufficient means for keeping yourself hydrated and cool. Wear cool clothing, slather on the sunscreen and wear a hat if you can. We’ll try to stop in to air conditioning if the opportunity arises but we have a full group of 50 photographers so there’s no guarantee any place can fit us all. Come prepared to be outside for the whole time.
Now that we’ve covered that, be ready to have a great time as we visually explore downtown Phoenix. With almost 50 years combined experience as professional photographers between myself, David Sanders and Ian Wingfield, this will be a great opportunity to learn tricks, share tips, talk shop and just commune with fellow photo junkies. I know we’re looking forward to it and hope you are, too.
Regards,
Aaron Latham
