A Message From The Walk Leader
Led by Milton Heiberg Orlando Wetlands Park is probably the most beautiful spot in Central Florida to watch the sunrise. We will meet at the parking lot at 5:45 AM to be in position for a 6:37 sunrise. We will then continue our walk through the area to photograph the abundant birds and wildlife. This is also the best time of day for the best light. In addition to normal photo equipment (which should include a lens of 300mm+ & a tripod) bring water, a snack, and comfortable walking shoes. We will be walking approximately 2.5 miles.

Great group of images from you early birds. I did the Winter Park photowalk, but if I had not committed to that one I would have joined you folks on the OWP walk. Love that place. Milton, I also saw a number of excellent images during the walk that were not submitted, and I’m not sure why!
Jack Mulligan posted the link to the flickr group http://www.flickr.com/groups/florida_photowalks/
and everyone is welcome to add images to that group.

It’s amazing what a diversity of images were submitted! We were all in the same place at the same time and still captured so many different views. I’m glad no one pointed out the gator while we were there or I would have freaked! Obviously, I am not a native Floridian!
Thanks for sharing,
Lucina
Folks, A really great morning and photo walk/opportunity. Some very nice images taken and submitted also. Just to make sure and to be upfront with everyone on the image I submitted. I consider nature photography to be a two step process or at least most of the time. One in making an image of flora/fauna and the second placing the first image in an appropriate scene. The image I submitted is just that, a composition of two images. The limpkin image I took 2 yrs. ago in Tampa at Lettuce Lake Park. The scene obviously was taken on the photowalk at Wetland Park. The composition was done in Photoshop and since this whole event is based on NAPP (a photoshop organization) I don’t really see an issue. Along with the fact that there are Limpkins present in the Wetland Park, the overall idea is consistent with the concept of “Stock Photography”, which is what I do. This fact is stated in the provided METADATA with the image. Assuming this perception is acceptable, then I’d like to leave the submitted image as is.

I appears that the photos from our walk are starting to come in. They are excellent examples of the environment and time of day that we were out in the Wetlands. Thank you Milton for getting us up early for such a beautiful morning.
If anyone is interested, I found some photos from other Florida Photowalks posted here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/florida_photowalks/
It was a terrific morning, Milton. Thank you for organizing everything and leading the group. I look forward to more.

It was a great day for the photographers who showed up. I counted 36 (of the 50 registered), but there may have been a few more who drifted in between the count. I saw some really good images while chimping at the show-and-tell session back at the Nature Center building. But I’m not seeing those images being submitted. Let’s get them in there before Saturday.
Thank you all for participating. I hope you enjoyed the day as much I did.
Best,
Milton
