Friday, July 17th
Looks like tomorrow we will have a great turn out! I want to go over a few things before the walk actually starts.
First and most importantly is safety. I know this sounds silly, but we have to make sure that we look out for number 1 (yourself). Make sure when you are taking a photo tomorrow that you are aware of your surroundings (cars, moving traffic, others walking around you). Also, make sure you are covered and protected from the elements. It is going to be HOT! Wear sunscreen, comfy shoes, and you might want to bring a small umbrella or poncho just in case the clouds roll in towards the end of the walk. Please bring a bottle of water with you for the walk. It will be very hot and I do not want anyone to get heat exhaustion .
Pack Light- Make sure when you are charging your batteries and getting the memory cards empty tonight that you pack light with equipment. Just bring the necessities. Unless you think you will be okay for 2 hours (don’t say I didn’t warn ya).
Where to begin- I want to make sure everyone knows we will be meeting by the railroad tracks on Church Street.
Group photo and volunteers- Before we all spread out and take photos I would like to do a group photo! I know we would all like to use our cameras to take it, but 50 plus people equals 50 plus cameras.. so lets keep it to about 5-10 people using their camera for the big photo opt. Also, I have received many emails asking me if people can join the walk even though its full. I have said yes to give everyone and opportunity to try this amazing event. So I will be asking a few of you to help monitor and lead the way for the rest of us. (It would be very hard to manage 50 people in a maze of downtown!!)
After the walk is over- I would like to have as many people venture to wall street in the outside patio area for a nice ending to the afternoon. It will be happy hour for those of you that might be thirsty. But the main reason why I want to go to wall street is because there are 3 restaurants in that section and we can all spread out and not dominate and overwhelm one place.
Uploading photos- Follow this link for help and information: http://worldwidephotowalk.com/uploading-your-photos/
Questions and Comments- Feel free to email me tonight or tomorrow (before 1pm) and I will make sure I will respond to you with an answer.
DEADLINES for photos:
Here are the three most important dates you will need to be aware of:
July 25, 11:59 pm EST: Deadline to upload your image(s) for consideration. No photos received after this time will be considered in the contest.
August 1, 11:59 EST: Deadline for walk leaders to upload the best photo from their walks. No photos received after this time will be considered in the contest.
August 17: The grand prize winner and 10 honorable mentions will be announced on the Worldwide Photo Walk website.
START: 2:00pm
27 West Church Street, Orlando, FL 32801
(Church Street market- by railroad tracks)
END: 4:00pm
101 N Rosalind Ave Orlando, FL 32801
(Lake Eola Amphitheater)
I would like to invite you and your friends to join the Photowalk in downtown Orlando! The plan is to start in Church Street Station and to mingle for 2 hours around downtown taking photographs of architecture, people, and shooting from creative angles. At 4:00pm we will end the photowalk around the Amphitheater at Lake Eola. From there, I would like to venture to Wall Street for some food, drinks, and conversation about today’s photos. The reason why we are ending at Lake Eola and not Wall st. is to have two different types of scenery. Downtown structures vs. the natural features of the lake.
All types of photographers are welcome!! point and shoot to SLR cameras! Please make sure you register your name on the list to have a chance to win a prize!
**If the summer thunderstorms seems to fall on the time for the walk, I will edit the time a week before July 18th. So please check back on the time prior to the event.
