CARTE DE LA RÉGION La Photowalk est une occasion de déambuler, photographier et fraterniser. Il n’y a pas de compétition, pas de prix pas de concours, sauf à l’échelle mondiale. Cette année le 18 juillet il y aura plus de 600 “Photowalk” de par le monde. Venez accompagner Jean-Francois O’Kane dans l’est de Montréal, pour découvrir un secteur de la ville qui offre une diversité d’intérêts mais aussi plus de 18 édifices historiques sur notre passage.

Le Marché Maisonneuve, juste au sud du parc Olympique, Un quartier aux origines humbles mais si riche d’histoire. Nous verrons le premier Hôtel de ville de Montréal, alors connue sous le nom de Hochelaga, des bains, ancêtres des piscines publiques, les escaliers en fer forgé si typiques a Montréal et qui enchantent les touristes. Nous n’irons pas au parc Olympique malgré son omniprésence dans l’horizon urbain de ce secteur.

Notre marche à une longueur de 2,95 Km et devrait durer environ 2 heures et demi. en terminant nous irons nous désaltérer au Casse-croute du Marché en regardant les photos que nous avons prises.

The Photowalk is just a good excuse to take a walk with your camera and discover a small part of town, and I was about to forget… with 50 other persons. There is no competition, no door prizes but on a world level. Join me for the Montreal (east) Photowalk that will be 1 among over 600 expected around the world. Come discover a historic part of town that offer a wide diversity of sceneries. We will walk by at least 18 historic landscape buildings.

MAP OF THE REGION The Maisonneuve public market, just south of the Olympic stadium, is in the hearth of a humble historic neighbourhood. When The “Marché” used to be the town Hall, Montreal was named Hochelaga at that time. We will walk by public bath, the ancestor of the public pool, reminder of a time where every third house had all the bath facilities. We will also take a look at the forged iron exterior stairs that are typical of multi level houses of this part of town, and that have the tourist come to Montreal. We will not go to the Olympic park, even if its presence fill the cityscape horizon all the time.

Our walk will be 2.95 Km (about 2 miles) and will last for about 2½ hours as we reach the Marché again to complete our walk. We will then take a soft-drink at the Market’s restaurant while looking and showing our images.
