A Message From The Walk Leader
Our walk will start inside the historic Boston Public Garden, the first botanical garden in the United States. We will stroll over the signature suspension bridge, explore the Swan Boats in the Lagoon, meet Romeo and Juliet ( the lagoon’s famous resident swan couple) and head out to meet and photograph the civil war re-enactors of the 54th Massachusetts Glory Brigade on this 18th of July’s 146th anniversary of their assault on Fort Wagner near Charleston, SC. (We are trying to arrange for a group of them to model for us).
We will then head out of the Public Garden, walking down the Commonwealth Avenue Mall. Often compared to the boulevards of Paris, the Mall is part of Frederick Law Olmsted’s (America’s first landscape artist) Emerald Necklace. Along this route we will see the largest cohesive Victorian neighborhood in the nation as we head back to the Bull and Finch Pub, made famous in the classic TV series Cheers.
This walk through history should be bristling with exciting and beautiful photographic opportunities, and I look forward to sharing the experience.
