There is going to be a lot of stuff coming your way this week as we get closer and closer to the big day.  Many questions will be answered, and hopefully everything will be clear by the time Saturday rolls around.

First off, some dates to remember…
-July 25: This is the deadline for photo walkers to submit up to 2 of your best images to their location page. These will need to be JPG files (not RAW or TIFF), and the size limit will be posted when you go to upload.  Most likely around 1.5-2.0 MB or so.
-August 1: This is the deadline for walk leaders to submit their choice for best image from their walk to us.  More specifically, 11:59 p.m. EST on August 1.  Instructions on this later.
-August 17: The 10 honorable mentions and 1 grand prize winner will be announced.

Speaking of prizes, I just tallied the values of the prize packages… The Honorable Mention prize packages are valued at over $1,600, and the Grand Prize package is valued at over $11,700!  Another huge thanks to all of our sponsors that have made this possible.

Throughout the week, I would highly recommend logging into your user page to check for updates that will be showing up on the dashboard.  I’ll mention them here too, but they might show up there before I get a chance to talk about them here.

RC is busy working on videos that will be posted later to help everyone through the photo submission process, and help the walk leaders with submitting their choices to us.  There is plenty of other stuff in the pipe too, but not ready to be announced just yet.  Let’s just say we all have a very busy week here at Kelby Media :) .

The man himself, Scott Kelby, has posted some helpful, non-techy, practical tips over on his blog that I highly recommend checking out.  Stuff like drinking water, wearing sunscreen, arriving early, etc.  Things that would be all too easy to overlook if you’re all wrapped up in your gear.

And here’s a tip about something that would also be easy to forget or overlook… Don’t ignore possible photos once you get to your final destination!  While you’re talking and chimping and looking at everyone’s pictures, there might be pictures unfolding right in front of you.  So in between chimping and chatting, put the camera to your eye and keep on shooting!
