A Message From The Walk Leader

Thank you to everyone who made it out for the photo walk! It was a lot of fun! I look forward to seeing photos you submit for the contest. You don’t have to participate in the contest, but why not? You might win a copy of Scott’s latest book! Or much more! Please submit no more than 2 images.

Okay, I have selected the winning photo for the Birmingham photowalk. It is titled ‘Birmingham Train’ by Josh Langley. Congratulations, Josh! I was drawn into that photo from the first time I saw it, and I kept going back to it. This was a very difficult choice, because I had picked about 30 photos that I really liked and felt were about equally worthy of being winners. I had several friends look at them and pick their favorites, and everyone picked different photos. So that says something about how many good photos there were. Josh was very creative when shooting the winning image, deliberately adjusting his zoom lens during a 1/4-second exposure to create the zoom effect. It worked beautifully. Thank you to everyone who participated on the walk and to those who also entered photos in the contest. There is some excellent talent in our area! Stay tuned to the Flickr site because there may be other informal photo walks going on in the area. It’s a great opportunity to meet fellow photographers and have some fun shooting.

I urge everyone to see Scott’s blog today (7/21) at www.scottkelby.com! Well, you should just read it everyday…I do!

There is a Flickr group I started last year for this photo walk. You can join it and submit more photos to it for everyone to see. (http://www.flickr.com/groups/scott-kelbys-worldwide-photowalk-birmingham/)

There is also a Flickr group for all participants worldwide that you can join. (http://www.flickr.com/groups/1149293@N20/)

The Birmingham News put us on their photo gallery! http://photos.al.com/gallery/4461/PhotoWalk
