A Message From The Walk Leader

Hey guys and girls!

Athens has so much to offer visually. UGA’s campus alone would be worthy of it’s own photo walk.

Join us as we start our walk at the historic UGA Arch. The early evening start time should lend us some cooler temperatures and wonderful soft light. Stroll with us as we make our way through North Campus to the Founders House and gardens, and back across campus by centuries-old buildings, Herty Field, majestic oaks on the quad to The Tate Student Center and the legendary Sanford Stadium. From the stadium, we’ll work our way back up through campus to the Lamar Dodd School of Art. Along the way, we’ll take in the Old Athens Cemetery as well as the colorful Latin American Ethno-botanical Garden. We’ll wind our way up through to the top of the architecturally interesting North Campus Parking Deck to take in one of the finest views in Athens - Just before sunset too, so the sky should be wonderful!

From there, we’ll depart the campus and head into the heart of downtown Athens, passing historic Farmers Hardware. We’ll make our way back through the city streets and capture scenes at the Classic Center, the Athens-Clarke County Courthouses and the amazing green staircase of the Downtown Parking Deck. Evening is when downtown comes alive. I can hardly wait to pass the glorious marquee of the Georgia Theater in all it’s retro glory.

Afterward, we’ll all meet back up at the arch, and then head across the street to Five Guys where you can show off some of the amazing shots you’re going to get to your new found friends and fellow photogs.
